Roll it up.....Pack Light, Pack Tight!
This is a picture of my suitcase from when my family and I went on a 6 day trip around this time last year. Now listen, I am a woman and like most that I know, we NEED all of our essentials. Packing all of your essentials is not a problem as long as you have room for ALL of that. LOL
I have packed a many of suitcases and I have even thought about packing differently so that I can continue carrying my luggage on the plane with me. I can't remember what I was watching last year, but whatever it was, it made me think, "Hey, let me try that roll-up method for this trip." What you see in the picture below is everything that I needed for 6 days on the West Coast. It actually didn't take me that long to roll everything up. I may have had a slight advantage due to an injury last year (I was on crutches at the time and could only wear one shoe. That is not the case anymore!). I tried the roll-up method again on a trip that I took back in May of this year and it worked out GREAT! I was able to fit all of my souvenirs in my suitcase for my trip back home. SUCCESS!!!!! LOL!
If you find that you're having to stuff/pack down or have someone sit on your suitcase so that you can try to zip it up, try the roll-up method. If you've never heard of it or tried it before, it is very simple. Take all like clothing (all shirts, pants, dresses, etc), lay them on top of each other, roll them up and place them in your suitcase. If your suitcase has an inner pocket, you can put your hair and bathing products in a zip lock bag (or any other carrying protective case so that the liquid items do not spill and ruin your clothes) and put it in that section. Another thing that I LOVE to do with my shoes is, I place a clean garbage bag over my clothes, then I place my shoes on top of the garbage bag. *If there is no washing machine where you are going, you can put your dirty clothes in the bag for your return trip.
Try it out the next time you pack for a trip and let me know how it works out for you!
Until next time......
